Business Builder
Help Travel Advisors Build Their Skills

Our mission is to help Travel Advisors excel in their businesses. To encourage this, we are starting a new bimonthly Business Builder event series. The goal for these events is to teach new skills to Travel Advisors, who are entrepreneurs from a wide range of backgrounds and experiences. If you are also an entrepreneur or small business with special skills and expertise, regardless if you work in Travel or not, we invite you to host a Business Builder event!

POSSIBLE TOPICS

EVENT STYLE & LOCATION

  • Improving your Marketing & Social Media skills
  • Using Technology to streamline or automate your business
  • How to leverage Virtual Assistants to streamline your back office
  • Protecting your family's financial health and planning for retirement
  • Health Insurance options for the self-employed
  • How to sell or buy a business
  • Becoming a better public speaker
  • Effective techniques for high-dollar sales
Business Builder events can be in-person or virtual. For in-person events, you can host a happy-hour reception, invite members to your office, or host a special training at a coworking space or hotel meeting room.

If needed, we can help find and arrange the venue, and arrange for or provide the projector to give your presentation. For virtual events, we provide the web conferencing platform (e.g., Zoom).

PREFERRED CONTENT &
PROMOTING YOUR BUSINESS

The intent of this series is to help our members build usable skills or provide them with usable insight and information they can use in their business. Attendees must be able to come away from the event with skills or information they can use immediately.

However, you are more than welcome to discuss your business as part of your presentation, including your unique value proposition, and additional services you offer to help advisors use the information or skill you've provided. This should be framed as "the next step" they can take after your presentation.

HOW WE PROMOTE YOUR EVENT

This is an important initiative for our chapter, so we will heavily promote your Business Builder event across all our channels including:
  • Our monthly "ASTA Moment" Video Message from our chapter president
  • Our monthly newsletter
  • Our Facebook and other Social Media channels
  • Our website
  • Mentioning your event at the end of the preceding Business Builder event and any other time we speak with our members for at least 2 months before the event.
Please note, we are a trade association for Travel Advisors and so we limit our events to this market. We ask that you do not invite clients from outside our industry to attend.

OTHER INFO

Attendee Costs
We do not normally charge ASTA members a fee for attending an event, including Business Builder. Non-members are charged a nominal fee (usually about $10). If your event is a special training in which attendees leave with something of value, like a workbook, we may be able to add a materials fee to the cost of attendance for both members and non-members. This is decided on a case-by-case basis; also, know that additional fees may lower attendance. Materials should be provided at-cost.

Attendee Lists
When attendees sign up for a Business Builder event, they may opt-in to receive additional information from you after the event. We will provide the contact information for attendees who opt-in after the event.
